Nevada Cannabis Board Warns of Mislabeled THC-CBD Products

22 June 2024

The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board (NCCB) has issued a public health bulletin regarding mislabeled cannabis products sold at dispensaries in Las Vegas and Henderson between May 26 and June 21, 2024. The products, marketed as having a 1:1 THC-to-CBD ratio, were found through testing to contain a 2:1 ratio, with CBD levels half of what was advertised. While the THC content was labeled correctly, the misrepresentation could significantly affect consumers relying on precise dosing, particularly medical marijuana patients who depend on accurate CBD levels for symptom management.

The NCCB has mandated that affected dispensaries display the bulletin prominently for 30 days to ensure customers are informed of the labeling error. Mislabeling, a recurring issue in the cannabis industry, underscores ongoing challenges in regulatory compliance and accurate product representation. This incident highlights broader concerns about industry practices, as studies have shown widespread labeling inaccuracies in related sectors, which can erode trust among medical marijuana patients and recreational users alike while increasing regulatory scrutiny.
